Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
